Zulal Discovery is the family-focused side of Zulal Wellness Resort in Qatar, offering integrative wellness retreats with structured consultations, targeted therapies, and daily wellness cuisine. Clinical touchpoints include a Health & Wellness Consultation on arrival and access to optional diagnostics such as physical analysis by physiotherapists, body composition analysis, and VISIA Facial Imaging. The wellness center provides comprehensive hydrothermal facilities including sauna, steam, an Arctic cave, and a Himalayan salt room to support therapeutic outcomes. Programmes incorporate Traditional Arabic & Islamic Medicine (TAIM) modalities alongside modern treatments such as infrared therapy, manual lymph drainage, and balneotherapy, coordinated with tailored nutrition guidance. Guests have access to curated group fitness and leisure activities to complement individualized treatment plans.

What approach does Zulal Discovery take to family wellness?
Zulal Discovery is the family side of the same medical campus. Adults can tap into the same diagnostics, the same doctors and the same TAIM framework as Serenity. Children get a parallel program built around movement, nutrition and confidence rather than clinical treatment.
The day usually runs in two tracks. Parents move through consultations, bodywork and classes on a schedule set by their doctor. Children join Discovery Oasis, a supervised program of yoga, nutrition workshops, swimming, kayaking and nature walks led by trained staff. Families come together for meals, evening activities and shared sessions like family yoga or sunset beach walks.
Programs range from three-night family escapes to longer stays of ten nights or more for parents who want a proper reset while the children stay engaged. Multi-generational groups are common. Grandparents, parents and grandchildren can each follow a plan that fits them.
How does the food work at Zulal Discovery?
Meals are designed around the same wellness cuisine as Serenity, then adapted for family dining. Parents on a clinical program eat from a personalised menu. Children and casual guests choose from à-la-carte menus that lean toward grilled proteins, fresh salads, whole grains and fruit. Sugar and processed food are minimised rather than banned outright.
The kitchen handles allergies and intolerances seriously. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and plant-based options are available at every meal without a surcharge. Children can order familiar dishes, pizza, pasta, grilled chicken, presented in a healthier form.
Alcohol is not served on property. Outdoor dining by the lagoon is a favourite for families, and private in-suite meals are easy to arrange for quieter evenings or for parents eating on a specific plan.
What does Zulal Discovery actually feel like?
Discovery shares the same peninsula as Serenity but sits on the opposite side of the resort. It holds 60 family-oriented rooms and suites, with connecting options and suites sized for three or four people. Many rooms open directly onto the gardens, the lagoon or the mangroves.
The children's facilities are the key difference. Discovery Oasis is a dedicated indoor-outdoor play and learning centre with supervised programs for ages four to thirteen. There's a family pool with a shaded lagoon for younger children, a teen zone, an outdoor adventure trail, and a kayaking launch onto the protected natural lagoon.
Adults staying on the Discovery side can use the full wellness centre, though the clinical treatment rooms on the Serenity peninsula remain adults-only. The atmosphere is notably more lively than Serenity, but the resort is large enough that quiet and active zones don't overlap.

Where is Zulal Discovery and how do I get there?
Zulal sits on the northern tip of Qatar, about 80 kilometres from Hamad International Airport in Doha. The drive takes 70 to 90 minutes. We arrange a private transfer for every family booking. Child seats are provided on request and it is worth asking for a larger vehicle if you are travelling with luggage, a stroller and sports kit.
Who does Zulal Discovery suit best?
Discovery works for families of all shapes. Parents with toddlers, families with teenagers, and multi-generational groups who want the grandparents to do clinical treatments while the children are supervised. The minimum age is two, and Discovery Oasis runs structured programs from age four upward. Ages sixteen and up can also cross over to the adults-only Serenity side for part of their stay.

Can adults at Discovery access the wellness centre and treatments?
Yes. Adults staying on the Discovery side have full access to the shared wellness centre, pools, hammam, salt room and group classes. Clinical consultations, bodywork and the TAIM treatment suites are run out of the Serenity peninsula, which remains adults-only, so parents cross over for those sessions while children stay at Discovery Oasis.
Is it safe to travel to Qatar with children?
Qatar is one of the safest countries in the Gulf for family travel. The resort is a self-contained peninsula with private beaches, medical staff on site, and private transfers to and from the airport. Temperatures between November and April are ideal. Between May and September the heat makes outdoor activity limited, so we usually steer families toward the cooler months.
Do parents have to be on a program to stay at Discovery?
No. You can book a family stay without a clinical program and still use the pools, beach, restaurants, gym and group classes. Many families pick a hybrid: one parent on a five-night clinical program, the other on a relaxed bed-and-breakfast stay, with the children enrolled in Discovery Oasis each morning.
