The property
Palace Merano was the first medical spa in Italy. It opened in 1906 and occupies a striking Art Nouveau building in the heart of Merano, South Tyrol. Henri Chenot developed his famous detox protocols here over two decades before moving on to build his own facilities in Switzerland. Today, Palace Merano follows its own Revital® Method under the scientific direction of Dr. Massimiliano Mayrhofer. The approach combines functional medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and bioenergetics.
The 6,000 sqm Revital Center houses a biological analysis laboratory, scanning equipment, and eight specialized treatment departments. Blood work results typically come back the same day. A daily schedule on the Detox program includes hydro-aromatherapy baths, phyto-mud body wraps, and deep-tissue energy massages. What is the Revital® Method at Palace Merano?
The Revital® Method evolved from the detox protocols that Henri Chenot developed at Palace Merano over more than twenty years. After Chenot moved on to establish his own clinics, Palace Merano continued refining the approach. Dr. Massimiliano Mayrhofer now leads the scientific direction.
The method draws on three medical traditions. Functional medicine provides the diagnostic foundation through blood panels, bio-impedance analysis, and biological marker screening. Traditional Chinese Medicine informs the bioenergetic treatments, including acupuncture and energy-based bodywork. What do you eat during your stay at Palace Merano?
All meals follow the Revital nutrition protocol, adapted to each guest's program. For Detox & Longevity, the diet is low-calorie, plant-based, and designed to support toxin elimination. Portions are intentionally small. The Sport-focused programs receive larger, more calorie-dense meals suited to recovery and performance.
Palace Merano offers three nutrition tracks. Palace Detox® Nutrition is a fasting-mimicking approach at roughly 800 to 1,000 calories per day.
