Amanbagh sits in a walled palm garden in the Ajabgarh valley of rural Rajasthan, on ground that was once a hunting camp for the Maharaja of Alwar. The architecture is domed and pillared in green marble and pink sandstone, and the setting is genuinely remote: the Aravalli hills, a scattering of villages, and the abandoned city of Bhangarh a short drive away.
Its relevance to wellness is that it is one of only five Aman houses in the world running the group’s multi-day Wellness Immersions, and it is the one where the method is Ayurvedic. There is a resident Ayurvedic physician who works by constitutional dosha, Vata, Kapha and Pitta, and builds the treatment programme from your constitution rather than from a menu.
It also carries the three day Detoxification Programme designed with Novak Djokovic, which is the most structured short programme in the Aman portfolio and a genuine reason to choose this house over the others. Yoga is taken seriously here in a way that is difficult to replicate outside India, which is precisely the point of doing it in Rajasthan rather than in a European spa.
The property
Ayurveda by dosha, and the Aman Immersion
The Individual Wellness Immersions are Aman’s multi-day programmes and they run from a minimum of four nights. They are described as programmes designed for transformation, with tailored pathways addressing movement, nutrition, fitness and spiritual awareness, and they are built for you after an assessment rather than chosen from a brochure.
The Ayurvedic side is the house speciality. A resident Ayurvedic physician curates treatments according to your constitutional dosha, working within the Vata, Kapha and Pitta framework, and the signature treatment is Abhyanga, a herbal oil massage performed by two therapists working in synchrony.
The Detoxification Programme by Novak Djokovic runs three days and is framed as a guided reset for body, mind and spirit, incorporating local healing traditions. It is the shortest structured programme here and the most accessible entry point for guests who cannot give four nights to an Immersion.
Yoga and meditation are private rather than group, and they are held in the gardens and at the local temples rather than in a studio, which is the sort of thing that is easy to claim and hard to deliver anywhere except here.
One thing to be clear about: Aman is not a clinic. There are no blood panels, no physician-led diagnostics and no medical protocol beyond the Ayurvedic consultation. What you get is depth of practice and an extraordinary setting, not measurement.
Ayurvedic principles and the organic garden
Nutrition is handled within the Ayurvedic framework, so what you are given follows from your dosha and from what the physician is treating rather than from a standard wellness menu.
The organic garden is part of the guest experience rather than a back-of-house detail: a garden tour is included with every stay, alongside daily breakfast and afternoon tea.
The detail of the restaurants, the menus and how the kitchen runs is not documented in the material we hold, and Aman publishes little of it, so we have deliberately not described it. It is on the list of what to confirm with the property.
A walled garden in the Aravalli hills
The spa runs the multi-day Individual Wellness Immersions alongside an extensive menu of massages, facials, body polishes and wraps. Private yoga and meditation sessions are held in the gardens and at the temples nearby.
The centrepiece of the property is a thirty-three metre central swimming pool, set within the walled palm garden and the domed green marble architecture. There is a fitness centre alongside it.
The surroundings are the reason to come. The Ajabgarh valley is rural Rajasthan rather than the palace circuit: Aravalli hills, village life, stepwells and temples, and the abandoned city of Bhangarh close by. Guided walks are included with every stay and are how most guests actually see the place.

The signature treatment is Abhyanga, a herbal oil massage performed by two therapists working in synchrony, which is one of the hardest Ayurvedic treatments to find delivered properly outside India.

Aman’s multi-day programme, and one of only five places in the world it is offered. The house describes it as a programme designed for transformation, with tailored pathways addressing movement, nutrition, fitness and spiritual awareness.
It is built for you rather than selected: the pathway follows an assessment on arrival, and at Amanbagh the Ayurvedic physician’s constitutional reading shapes what you receive. Minimum four nights, and the group recommends five to seven for an Immersion to do its work.

Frequently asked questions
What is the atmosphere like, and who stays here?
Quiet, ceremonial and very private, in the Aman register. The property is small and the valley is rural, so there is almost nothing to do beyond what the house arranges, which is the point. Guests are international, largely couples, and typically on a wider Indian itinerary rather than there for the resort alone.
What makes Amanbagh different?
Ayurveda practised by a resident physician in rural Rajasthan, inside one of only five Aman houses running multi-day Wellness Immersions, with the Djokovic detox as a three day alternative. Add private yoga in temples rather than a studio, a thirty-three metre pool in a walled palm garden, and guided walks included with every stay, and it delivers something a European spa fundamentally cannot.
How much does Amanbagh cost?
Prices are being integrated. Aman does not publish rates for any of its properties, so every stay is quoted individually and the programme is charged separately from the room. Contact us and we will get a current quote directly from Aman.
What are the alternatives to Amanbagh?
In India, Ananda in the Himalayas is the most direct comparison and is far more programme-led and medical, Six Senses Vana is more structured again, and Tulåh in Kerala is the deepest clinical Ayurveda of the three. Within Aman, Amanpuri in Thailand and Amanemu in Japan run the same Immersions in very different settings. Choose Amanbagh when the setting and the Ayurvedic tradition matter more than measurement.
Is Amanbagh a wellness resort or a hotel?
A hotel that runs real wellness programmes, which is different from a clinic and different again from a spa hotel. It is one of only five Aman houses worldwide offering the group’s multi-day Wellness Immersions, and it has a resident Ayurvedic physician. What it does not have is diagnostics, blood work or a medical team.
What is the Djokovic programme?
A three day Detoxification Programme designed with Novak Djokovic, framed as a guided reset for body, mind and spirit and incorporating local healing traditions. It is the most structured short programme in the Aman portfolio, and it is the practical option if you cannot give four nights to a full Immersion.
How does the Ayurvedic side work?
A resident Ayurvedic physician assesses your constitutional dosha within the Vata, Kapha and Pitta framework and curates the treatments from there, so two guests on the same programme receive different treatments. The signature is Abhyanga, a herbal oil massage delivered by two therapists working in synchrony.
How long do I need, and how do I get there?
Four nights minimum for a Wellness Immersion, three days for the Djokovic detox. Jaipur is the practical airport at about two and a half hours by road, and Delhi is roughly five hours. Most guests fold Amanbagh into a wider Rajasthan trip rather than flying in for it alone.
What is included in every stay?
Daily breakfast and afternoon tea, a morning yoga session, guided walks and an organic garden tour, regardless of whether you are on a programme. That is unusually generous for a property in this category and means a non-participating partner still has a structured day available to them.
