A Dimora di Datu residency held at Eremito in Umbria from 9 to 15 October 2026, inside more than three thousand hectares of protected reserve.
The week is given to introspection and meditative attention. It follows the framework of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, working on pratyahara (drawing the senses inward) and dhyana (sustained attention), and the instruction stays the same each day so familiarity replaces novelty. Seated practice is supported by walking practice, gentle asana and pranayama, and a daily body treatment.
Eremito was built on the model of a medieval hermitage. It is stone, the rooms are cells called Celluzze, and the furnishing is minimal. There are no devices and no artificial light at night. Fourteen rooms in total, so the group stays small, and the building sits in forest with nothing around it.
The work here is psychological and emotional integration, supported by a daily soothing treatment. The teachers come from the spiritual lineages of India and the East, where the practices are passed on by direct transmission over years. Eremito is the best place to experience a silent retreat.
The retreat is six nights, one short of the Ayurveda week, and priced accordingly: GBP 2,500 per person sharing a double room, and GBP 3,500 for single occupancy. The rate covers full board, five private treatments, daily group classes and retreat wear.

The first week of Datu’s autumn 2026 season, arriving Monday 19 October and leaving Monday 26 October.
Datu’s signature Ayurveda retreat, and the one that ran for five seasons in Tuscany before moving in 2026 to a 17th-century beachfront palazzo overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
What makes it unusual is who is in the room. Over twenty Vaidyas, therapists, yoga teachers and chefs fly across from Six Senses Vana, Ananda in the Himalayas, Vaidyagrama and the Isha Foundation. Four traditions run side by side: Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga and Tibetan Sowa Rigpa.
Seven nights, opening with a consultation with a Vaidya that sets the week. From there it is Ayurvedic treatments, oil work, massage, yoga asana, pranayama and meditation, with five or more group classes per day and sattvic cooking throughout. Some mornings open with a fire ritual. Every treatment is private and one to one. Five are included in the price, and you can book more at any point in the week.
Groups are small and most guests arrive alone. Breakfast and dinner are kept quiet and lunch is more social. Leaving alcohol, caffeine and nicotine alone for the week is the expectation, and the guests who do it get the most out of the retreat.
Prices are per person, per week, full board. Sharing a double room: Dharma Palazzo and Dharma Villa GBP 2,600, Jyoti Palazzo GBP 2,800, Akasha Palazzo GBP 3,300, Akasha Palazzo with Sea View Terrace GBP 3,600. Single occupancy in the same four categories is GBP 3,500, GBP 3,700, GBP 4,200 and GBP 4,500.
There are also structured Ayurveda, TCM and longevity packages you can add to the retreat, with twelve pre-scheduled treatments per week, an online consultation before you arrive and a month of aftercare afterwards. Price on request, and worth asking about if you are coming with something you want worked on.

The closing week of Datu’s autumn 2026 season, arriving Monday 16 November and leaving Monday 23 November.
This is the week that carries the guest teacher. Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche, the Tibetan Buddhist lama, is in residence from 17 to 20 November and teaches tummo fire breathing and dzogchen meditation. Nothing else about the week changes and the rate is the same.

A Dimora di Datu residency in Goa, and the only one of the three held in India. It ran in August and September 2026 and Datu are still taking enquiries for it.
This is the one held where the practices come from, among the landscapes, climate and cultural rhythms that sustained them, so Ayurveda is met as a living system.
Datu price Goa per person per night, from GBP 330 sharing and GBP 430 single, with a higher category at GBP 390 and GBP 490. Ask us for the price of a full week.
The rate covers full board, one private session per night, the Vaidya consultations, five or more group classes per day and retreat wear. Fixed dates only, and the same deposit terms as the European retreats.
This program is priced for each booking. The property confirms it for your dates.

Datu Wellness, in detail

01
The property
Most people who want classical Ayurveda have to fly to India for it. Datu inverts that: the practitioners fly instead. Vaidyas, yoga teachers, therapists and chefs come across from Six Senses Vana, Ananda in the Himalayas, Vaidyagrama and the Isha Foundation for a few weeks a year, and run week-long retreats in a European venue.
Datu is Sanskrit for share, and the model is a travelling collective. Over twenty practitioners, doctors and chefs look after a small group at a time, working in four traditions side by side: Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, and Tibetan Sowa Rigpa. A stay opens with a consultation with a Vaidya that sets the rhythm of the week. The days are built from treatments, massage, yoga asana, meditation, pranayama, qi gong and therapeutic arts. Food is sattvic, cooked to Ayurvedic principles, with a Michelin starred chef in residence on some weeks.

02
How does a Datu retreat work?
It opens with a personal Ayurvedic consultation led by a Vaidya, and the rest of the week is shaped from what that consultation finds. The stated aim is physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional balance, and the daily timetable is built to serve whichever of those the guest most needs.
Four traditions run side by side: Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, and Tibetan Sowa Rigpa (traditional Tibetan medicine). The Ayurvedic treatments include abhyangam, podi kizhi, udwarthanam, kati vasti, netra vasti, shiro abhyangam, pada abhyangam, pichu, lepam, mukhalepam, aschyotanam and dinacharya. Alongside them sit myotherapy, foot reflexology, chi nei tsang, Indian deep tissue, restorative massage, cupping, sound therapy and therapeutic art.
More on how does a datu retreat work?
Every treatment is private and one to one. Five are included in the week, and you can book more at any point once you are there.
The group activities include yoga asana, pranayama, qi gong, meditation and satsang (philosophical and spiritual talks). Datu offers five or more group classes per day and some mornings open with a fire ritual. Retreats are kept deliberately small, so that the practitioners can work closely with each guest. Datu also sell structured Ayurveda, TCM and longevity packages with twelve pre-scheduled treatments per week, an online consultation before arrival and a month of aftercare, priced on request.
The practitioners are extremely talented. They come from Six Senses Vana, Ananda in the Himalayas, Vaidyagrama and the Isha Foundation. Who is there depends on the retreat. The Tibetan Buddhist lama Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche teaches from 17 to 20 November 2026, on tummo fire breathing and dzogchen meditation. Earlier guests include the Swiss psychiatrist Dr Therese Augsburger, who works across Ayurveda, yoga and Western psychotherapy.
After a Datu retreat, guests leave with better sleep, clearer thinking and steadier mood, stabilised blood pressure and a more balanced metabolism.

03
What do you eat?
Sattvic cooking, built on Ayurvedic principles and using the ingredients of wherever the retreat is being held. The kitchen is run by Asia Kostka and her team. The menu is plant based, and ghee and buttermilk are the only animal ingredients, which follows the yogic principle of ahimsa.
Portions are measured and there is no menu to choose from. Datu treat both as part of the therapy: lighter, more deliberate eating supports rest and repair, and removing the choice removes the daily negotiation with appetite. Most contemporary dietary preferences are already covered, and anything else should be flagged before arrival.
More on what do you eat?
The food is sourced locally. Produce comes from organic farms within 25km of the palazzo. The treatment oils and the Ayurvedic medicines used through the week come from Datu’s own sources in India, including the Ayurvedic hospital Vaidyagrama.
On some retreats a guest chef joins in residence, which changes the character of the week considerably. Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, who holds a Michelin star, has done one.
Guests are encouraged to leave caffeine, alcohol and nicotine alone for the week. Guests who do it get more out of the retreat.

04
Where do the retreats happen?
A Return to Balance runs at a 17th-century beachfront palazzo overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Datu ran five seasons in Tuscany and moved here in 2026, and this is now their home for the foreseeable future. Rooms sit either in the historic part of the palazzo or in two Mediterranean villas set in five acres of private gardens.
The palazzo has 25 guest rooms in four categories. Dharma Palazzo and Dharma Villa are the entry categories, and the villa rooms open onto a private sea view terrace. Jyoti Palazzo also has a sea view terrace. Akasha Palazzo sits in the historic heart with a French balcony or a secluded patio, a marble bathtub and Vietrese majolica tiling. Akasha Palazzo with Sea View Terrace takes the upper floors and a large terrace over the water. Most rooms have a terrace, a sea view or both. There is an outdoor pool, so pack swimwear.
More on where do the retreats happen?
Alongside the palazzo, two further residences run under the name Dimora di Datu. A Monastic Meditation is at Eremito in Umbria in October 2026, inside more than three thousand hectares of protected reserve. Return to the Source runs in Goa, close to the source of the practices the collective works from. Goa also has 25 guest rooms.
Naples (NAP) is just under two hours from the palazzo by car, and less by train. Salerno Costa Amalfi (QSR) is about an hour, and Rome is around two hours on the high speed line. The local station is Agropoli, if you want to check connections yourself. Check in is from 14:00 and check out at 10:30. Datu arrange transfers on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Atmosphere, prices, alternatives
Frequently Asked Questions
Atmosphere, prices, alternatives
Atmosphere and clientele
Small groups, first names by the first dinner. Breakfast and dinner are kept quiet and lunch is more social. Guests are international, often travelling alone, and often meeting Ayurveda for the first time. Leaving alcohol, caffeine and nicotine alone for the week is the expectation and never policed. Adults only in practice: under sixteens cannot attend.
USPs
Practitioners from Six Senses Vana, Ananda in the Himalayas, Vaidyagrama and the Isha Foundation, working in Europe for a few weeks a year. Four traditions side by side, among which Tibetan Sowa Rigpa (traditional tibetan medicine, very rare and very efficient for emotional healing). Every treatment is private and one to one. The food is sourced locally, and the treatment oils and Ayurvedic medicines come from Datu’s own sources in India.
Prices
Per person per week, full board. A Return to Balance runs from GBP 2,600 sharing and GBP 3,500 single, rising to GBP 3,600 and GBP 4,500 for the sea view terrace suites. A Monastic Meditation at Eremito is GBP 2,500 sharing and GBP 3,500 single for six nights. Structured Ayurveda, TCM and longevity packages with twelve treatments per week are priced on request, as is the Goa residency.
Alternatives
For the same traditions in India itself, we recommend Ananda in the Himalayas and Six Senses Vana. Eremito is the best place to experience a silent retreat.
Is Datu a hotel?
No. Datu Wellness is a travelling collective of Ayurvedic and yoga practitioners, registered in London, that runs fixed-date retreats in beautiful venues. There is no property to book outside those dates.
Is it still in Tuscany?
No. Datu ran five seasons in Tuscany and moved south in 2026. A Return to Balance now runs at a 17th-century beachfront palazzo overlooking the Amalfi Coast, and that is where Datu are based. Listings that still say Tuscany are out of date.
What does a week include?
Full board, the consultations with a Vaidya, five private treatments, five or more group classes per day, and retreat wear. More treatments can be booked on site. Flights and transfers are not included.
Does it matter which dates we pick?
Less than you would think. The retreat itself is the same every week, so pick the dates that suit you. Guest teachers come now and then, such as Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche from 17 to 20 November 2026. Treat that as a bonus when it lands on your week.
Does a guest need experience?
No. Datu take complete beginners alongside experienced yogis. What they do ask is that guests contact them before booking if pregnant. Simply bear in mind that Datu is not a medical facility.
Can dietary or medical requirements be met?
Most of them, if they are flagged before arrival. The cooking is plant based with ghee and buttermilk. However Datu is not a medical facility, so a guest under active treatment should be discussed with them first.
Is there wifi?
Yes, if a guest asks for it. Datu recommend leaving devices alone for the week and give access to anyone who needs to keep working.
What language is the retreat in?
English. Between them the practitioners also speak French, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi, Malayalam and Hebrew.
Can I pay for my stay at Datu Wellness in stablecoin?
Yes. Ask for your quote in USDT (TRC20) or USDC, the same way you would ask for it in euros or dollars. We settle your stay with Datu Wellness, and your booking at Datu Wellness is in your name.
