AKI Family Resort Plose, in detail

Outdoor pool with mountain views at AKI Plose family resort, Dolomites

01

The property

AKI Family Resort Plose is a purpose-built family wellness resort nestled on the slopes of Plose mountain above Bressanone, in the heart of the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Part of the ADLER Spa Resorts & Lodges family, it is designed from the ground up for families with children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers, while ensuring parents have genuine space for rest and renewal.

It is the Sanoner family's first resort built specifically for families, and the only one in the group that does not carry the ADLER name. Aki is the little eagle who has been the mascot of the ADLER kids' clubs for years, and the new resort was named after him. Everything else is pure ADLER: the same spa cosmetics, the same alpine materials, the same standard of service.

More on the property

The resort revolves around a simple idea: that family time and personal wellness can coexist beautifully. A comprehensive childcare programme runs daily from 9:00 to 21:00, with baby care from 30 days old, freeing parents to enjoy the adults-only forest spa, ADLER Spa treatments, or simply a quiet moment on their private terrace. Meanwhile, children explore a vast indoor and outdoor play world, nature adventures, and creative workshops.

AKI Full Board keeps everything simple: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and all non-alcoholic drinks are included, with dedicated children's gourmet menus, and so are childcare, the daily activity programme, e-bike and buggy hire and the shuttle to the Plose ski and hiking area. Rooms are built in untreated spruce wood with panoramic terraces, full baby equipment, and every comfort a family needs. It is, quite simply, one of the finest family wellness resorts in the Alps.

02

Family wellness

AKI Family Resort Plose takes a holistic, family-centred approach to wellness. The ADLER Spa offers dedicated treatment programmes for every member of the family: spa rituals for children (from age 5), teenager-specific treatments, prenatal and postnatal care for mothers, relaxation packages for fathers, and couple's rituals. The adults-only spa sits apart in the forest, a cluster of small cottages in a natural setting, entirely separate from the family water world.

The adults-only spa holds a relaxation room, a herbal sauna at 60°C, a Finnish sauna at 90°C with daily infusions, an outdoor plunge pool and an outdoor fireplace, with daily yoga classes in the yoga pavilion. Treatments are ADLER Signature Treatments, delivered by qualified practitioners using ADLER Spa Active Cosmetics, in cabins that also cater for children and couples. Adults have their own 100 m² Technogym fitness studio on the top floor, with a panoramic view over the surrounding forest, offering cardio and strength training, body shaping, Pilates and private coaching.

More on family wellness

Families have their own sauna world alongside the pools: a textile, non-nudist steam sauna and a hay sauna at 60°C with an ice fountain, plus children's sauna infusions and several relaxation oases with spacious double loungers.

The philosophy is rooted in nature. Treatments use Alpine herbs, arnica, local essential oils, and ADLER's own active cosmetics line. Whether it's a stone massage for a child, a Thalasso ritual for a parent, or a forest ritual for a couple, every treatment is designed to restore balance through the healing power of the mountain environment.

Cuisine

AKI Full Board is a culinary journey through the day rather than three fixed meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon snacks and all non-alcoholic drinks are included in the rate. The kitchen cooks modern Alpine cuisine with a Mediterranean influence, with a deliberate focus on produce from local farms and dairies, wholesome on one side and indulgent on the other.

  • Breakfast (7.30 to 10:00, late breakfast until 11:00): a generous buffet for the whole family with three live cooking stations for egg dishes, pancakes, healthy specialities and freshly squeezed juices, plus child-height buffets so children can serve themselves.
  • Lunch (12:00 to 14:00): a large starter and dessert buffet with homemade ice cream, daily hot starters and main courses from the live cooking station, pizza straight from the oven and a dedicated children’s buffet.
  • Dinner (18.30 to 20.30): salad and starter buffets, a daily changing five-course à la carte menu served to your table, a three-course children’s menu built on healthy principles, fresh pizza from the show oven, an artisanal ice cream bar and a cheese and dessert buffet.
  • Bar (11:00 to 23:00): homemade cakes, desserts and ice cream from 15:00, special evenings with mocktails, and snacks and hot dishes from 15:00 to 17.30 (charged separately).
  • Children’s bistro: supervised meals with the Kids Club, lunch at 12.30 and dinner at 18:00, so parents can eat at their own pace.

Questions we are asked

Atmosphere, prices, alternatives

What is the atmosphere like at AKI Family Resort Plose and who goes there?

AKI attracts families with children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers, who want a wellness-focused holiday without compromising on either adult relaxation or children's entertainment. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and nature-oriented, spread across 40,000 m² of woods and gardens. Parents who value structured childcare, high-quality spa access, and a beautiful mountain setting will feel right at home.

What makes AKI Family Resort Plose unique compared to other family hotels?

AKI is the ADLER group's first resort built for families, named after Aki, the little eagle who has been the mascot of the ADLER kids' clubs for years. It stands out through its childcare from 30 days old, running 9:00 to 21:00, the dual wellness concept (a 2,200 m² water world with four heated pools and three slides for the family, plus an adults-only spa in the forest with Finnish and herbal saunas, a plunge pool and a yoga pavilion), a 600 m² indoor play paradise, and the quality of ADLER Spa treatments. AKI Full Board removes meal planning stress entirely and also covers e-bikes, buggy hire, the Plose shuttle and the Brixen Card. A local tourist tax of €3.80 per person per day is charged on top of the room rate, and children under 14 are exempt. What are the alternatives to AKI Family Resort Plose?

Within the ADLER family, ADLER Lodge Alpe is a nearby mountain chalet alternative (also family-friendly but more intimate). For adults-only medical wellness, ADLER Balance in Val Gardena offers structured ADLER Med programmes without children. For a warmer climate family option, ADLER Sicily combines ADLER hospitality with Mediterranean surroundings. Outside the ADLER group, comparable luxury family resorts in the Alps include Cavallino Bianco and Post Alpina Family Mountain Chalets.

What ages of children does AKI Family Resort Plose cater for?

Childcare runs daily from 9:00 to 21:00 in two age groups: a daycare centre for babies and toddlers from 30 days to under 3 years, with healthy baby food and full baby equipment, and an age-appropriate programme from 3 years upwards with supervised meals in the children's restaurant. The resort has dedicated spaces for every age, including a two-storey play barn, a toddler area with a bobby car track and tree house, a painting studio and wood workshop, a teens' lounge, an outdoor adventure zone with a children's cable car, and a children's ski slope in winter.

Also included: childcare in the Kids Club from 9:00 to 21:00, the daily indoor and outdoor activity programme, guided hikes and e-bike tours with free e-bike hire, free hire of buggies, pushchairs, rucksacks, poles and hiking maps, daily yoga and meditation in the yoga pavilion, the free shuttle to the Plose ski and hiking area, one Plose cable car round trip per day per family (not included from 11.07 to 04.09.2026), and the Brixen Card for free public transport and entry to the Bressanone museums.

Is there an adults-only spa area?

Yes. The ADLER Spa is set apart in the forest, a cluster of small cottages away from the family water world, with a relaxation room, a herbal sauna at 60°C, a Finnish sauna at 90°C with daily infusions, an outdoor plunge pool, an outdoor fireplace and daily yoga classes in the yoga pavilion. Adults also have a 100 m² Technogym fitness studio on the top floor with panoramic views. Treatments are ADLER Signature Treatments using ADLER Spa Active Cosmetics, and can be booked before arrival. The family-friendly AKI water world, with its pools, slides and textile family sauna, is available to everyone.

What outdoor activities are available?

On site there are 40,000 m² of woods and gardens with an adventure playground, a children's cable car, a small farm with a petting zoo and duck pond, and a climbing wall. The Plose itself is seven minutes away on the free hotel shuttle: the Plosebob toboggan run reaches speeds of up to 40 km/h, mountain carts run a 9 km descent, and the Plose Loop offers four downhill mountain bike trails for beginners and experts. Family walks include the pram-friendly "Woody Walk" with play stations along the way and the "Lorggen" legend hike. Guided hikes and e-bike tours go out with qualified mountain guides, with e-bikes and hiking equipment free of charge.

How much does a stay cost?

Suite rates start from 588€ per suite per night for the Family Suite (including AKI Full Board and all inclusive services), from 780€ for the Family Suite Superior, and from 938€ for the Family Home (up to 7 guests). A local tourist tax of €3.80 per person per day is charged on top of the room rate, and children under 14 are exempt. Special offers and seasonal packages may offer better value for longer stays.

What is the AKI Travel Prevention Service?

It is the resort's own cancellation cover, offered at 15€ per room per night on top of the stay. It applies if you or another occupant of the room cannot travel for health or accident reasons, if a first-degree relative is hospitalised after a serious accident or sudden emergency, or if serious damage to your property requires your presence at home. Supporting documents are needed for a claim. It covers full cancellations only, not late arrivals or early departures, and it is neither refundable nor transferable to other dates. A deposit of 20% of the booked services confirms a booking, and without the cover the standard scale applies: free of charge up to 20 days before arrival, 50% from 19 to 3 days before, and 100% from 2 days before or for a no-show.

What baby equipment is provided?

Every suite comes equipped with comprehensive baby supplies including a cot, changing table, bottle warmer, and baby bathtub, and the family bathrooms have a changing table and a children's wash basin. Buggies and pushchairs are free to borrow. Parents can travel light, AKI has everything covered.

Why is it called AKI rather than ADLER?

AKI is the ADLER group's first resort built specifically for families, and the only one that does not carry the ADLER name. Aki is a little eagle, the mascot of the ADLER kids' clubs, adopted by so many young guests over the years that the Sanoner family named their first family resort after him. Everything else is ADLER: the same spa cosmetics and signature treatments, the same alpine materials and the same standard of service that run through the group's seven properties.

How do I get to AKI Family Resort Plose?
