The Capra

Overview

The Capra is a five-star boutique alpine lodge in the car-free Swiss ski resort of Saas-Fee, set against a panoramic sweep of 4,000m peaks in the Canton of Valais. The hotel blends the warmth of a traditional mountain chalet with luxury hospitality: expansive suites in warm earthy tones, a fire-lit lounge, a snug library, and a traditional barn converted into a ski-in/ski-out cabin that gives direct access to the pistes. Voted Switzerland's 2nd best luxury hotel in 2023 and one of Europe's top 25.

Wellness at The Capra is not a department — it is the philosophy running through every element of the stay. In partnership with Peak Health, a science-based wellness company founded in London in 2016, the hotel has shaped its entire guest experience around five evidence-based pillars: Exercise, Mental Resilience, Nutrition, Sleep, and Habits. From the Peak Health Spa and its four treatment categories to the seasonal menus, the guided Alpine hikes, and the carefully curated turndown rituals, every detail is designed to help guests restore balance and build wellbeing that endures long after departure.

Peak Health: Five Pillars, Science-Based

The Peak Health philosophy structures wellness around five interconnected pillars grounded in current medical and neuroscience research. Exercise at altitude — through guided Alpine hikes and personalised training — builds cardiovascular capacity, strengthens muscles, stimulates BDNF for cognitive clarity, and elevates mood. Nutrition is designed to stabilise blood sugar and support gut health, drawing on locally sourced, seasonal alpine produce and lean proteins.

Mental resilience is cultivated through mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and deep immersion in nature — practices shown to lower cortisol, strengthen neural pathways, and build emotional regulation. Sleep is treated as a core therapeutic intervention: curated menus, spa treatments, and restorative evening practices rebalance serotonin and melatonin for genuinely restful recovery. Habits close the loop: rooted in neuroscience of the habit loop, Peak Health helps guests replace harmful patterns with sustainable ones that hold beyond the stay.

Every guest journey is personal and purpose-driven. Rather than a fixed schedule, Peak Health tailors each experience to individual goals — whether a week-long retreat, a one-day reset, or ongoing programme. Treatments are organised into four categories: Detoxification, Muscle Recovery, Sleep & Relaxation, and Mental Resilience, complemented by the signature 'My Time' bespoke treatment designed in real time by the therapist around the guest's state of being on the day.

Alpine Nutrition and Peak Health Menus

The Capra's Brasserie 1809 draws inspiration from its alpine surroundings, celebrating local Swiss produce through seasonal, mountain-inspired menus. The kitchen emphasises whole, nutrient-dense foods that honour the rhythms of the alpine landscape while delivering the macronutrient balance and antioxidant richness that underpins the Peak Health philosophy.

During retreats, a dedicated Peak Health nutrition plan applies throughout: locally sourced lean proteins, healthy fats, and fresh seasonal vegetables calibrated to stabilise blood sugar, boost metabolism, and sustain energy without spikes or crashes. Sleep-friendly menus are available in the evenings to support the Sleep pillar of the programme. Herbs and botanicals — including arnica, edelweiss, gentian, nettle, and elderflower — are foraged from the hotel's own Alpine garden and the surrounding forests, and incorporated into teas, treatments, and cuisine.

Peak Health Spa and Alpine Setting

The Peak Health Spa features an indoor pool, outdoor hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, salt therapy room, foot hydrotherapy, specialised showers, a fully-equipped gym (open 24 hours), a mind-body studio for yoga and group classes, three treatment rooms, a private spa, and multiple relaxation areas. The spa evolves with the seasons: summer yoga sessions are held outdoors breathing the crisp mountain air; winter shifts to warmth, with sauna rituals, herbal steam infusions, and grounding treatments to restore circulation after a day in the snow.

Beyond the spa, The Capra sits in car-free Saas-Fee at 1,800m, with panoramic views of 13 peaks above 4,000m. A traditional barn has been converted into a ski-in/ski-out cabin with direct access to the resort's pistes. The surrounding landscape — the starting point for every guided hike — is itself the most powerful element of the wellness experience.

Add-on price: shared upon request

Embarking on a wellness journey can feel both deeply personal and, at times, unfamiliar. That's why we offer the reassuring presence of a dedicated Wellness Companion: a warm, experienced Serenity Ways expert who travels alongside you from the very first moment.

As your Private Wellness Companion is not there to direct your program or replace the expertise of the doctors / practitioners caring for you. Our role is simpler, and perhaps more essential: to be by your side. To offer a familiar face in an unfamiliar setting, to help you feel at ease, to bridge communication between you and your care team, and to ensure you always feel supported, heard, and never alone.

Think of us as a trusted friend who happens to know the wellness world intimately. We are there to hold your hand, every step of the way.
