A programme that uses the Himalayan landscape as its primary therapeutic tool. Guided mindfulness hikes through the forests and foothills around Dehradun are combined with breathwork, meditation, Ayurvedic treatments, and natural healing therapies to create a stress reset grounded in movement and nature.
There is strong evidence that time in nature — particularly in forest environments — reduces cortisol, lowers blood pressure, and restores nervous system balance. The hikes are adapted to each guest's fitness level and the mindfulness component transforms the walk into a moving meditation practice.
Available from 3 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

A programme working with the body's energetic anatomy through yoga, meditation, and sound healing. The chakra system maps seven energy centres from the base of the spine to the crown, each associated with different physical, emotional, and psychological functions. When these centres are blocked or imbalanced, it manifests as stress, anxiety, disconnection, or physical symptoms.
The programme combines chakra-specific asana sequences, pranayama, guided meditation, singing bowl and sound healing sessions, and Ayurvedic treatments chosen for their energetic properties. The Himalayan setting carries its own energetic resonance that amplifies the practice.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

A cleanse for body and mind. This programme shakes off fatigue, rebalances metabolism, and boosts the immune system through a curated detox meal plan, Ayurvedic treatments, therapies to slow the fight-or-flight response, and a digital detox.
The approach works on multiple levels: digestive cleansing through Ayurveda, nervous system reset through yoga and breathwork, and mental clarity through the digital detox and meditation. Energy levels reset; guests consistently report newfound clarity within days.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

If getting to sleep or staying asleep is a struggle, or you wake up feeling tired, this program addresses the reasons why. Experts track your sleep patterns and help you reset through a combination of sleep therapies, yoga nidra, holistic massages, nighttime soporific drinks, pranayama, and meditation.
The program includes a complimentary two-night sleep tracker and analysis, Ayurvedic treatments, Natural Healing and Tibetan Healing therapies, and personalised nutrition. The benefits compound: better sleep strengthens the immune system, slows ageing, improves memory, and reduces low-grade inflammation associated with chronic disease.
Available as 5, 7, or 14 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

One of the most distinctive programmes in the world of luxury wellness: a dedicated programme in Traditional Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa), one of the oldest and most complete healing systems in existence. Vana's Tibetan doctors and practitioners are among the few outside Tibet offering this at a serious level.
The programme heals mind and emotions through ancient Tibetan diagnostics (pulse reading, urine analysis), herbal formulas, Ku Nye massage, Moxibustion, and mindfulness practices rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. It is particularly effective for those dealing with stress, trauma, emotional imbalance, or those who feel conventional medicine has not fully addressed their condition.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

A programme centred on yoga and meditation in the foothills of the Himalayas: one of the world's most powerful settings for this practice. Vana's yoga faculty draws on multiple traditions — Hatha, Iyengar, Kundalini, and restorative — and the programme is adapted to each guest's level and intention.
Daily private yoga sessions are complemented by pranayama, meditation, group classes, Ayurvedic treatments, and natural healing therapies. The setting amplifies the practice: early morning sessions in the sal forest, meditation in the Himalayan air, and the grounding influence of the land itself.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

A cleanse that works through the yogic system rather than Ayurveda. The Yogic Detox combines asana (Hatha yogic postures) and Sat Kriya (Kundalini yoga), pranayama, and meditation with a nutritious, balanced diet to offer a profound purification experience.
The yogic approach to detox operates on the pranic body: using breath, movement, and specific kriyas to release toxins and stagnation held in the nervous system and organs. The effect is both physical and deeply psychological — many guests find this programme more emotionally liberating than a purely dietary approach.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

An empowering programme for new mothers: designed to support recovery after childbirth and help women transition into their new role with strength, health, and peace of mind. Ayurveda has a deeply developed tradition of postnatal care (Sutika Paricharya) that addresses the depletion and recovery needs of the postpartum body.
The programme is tailored to each mother and her specific recovery needs: nourishing Ayurvedic treatments to rebuild strength and vitality, nutritional protocols to support healing and breastfeeding, gentle yoga and breathwork for the recovering body, and the restorative power of the Vana environment.
Available as 5 or 7 nights. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire.

A programme built around hormonal intelligence: understanding and optimising the menstrual cycle to achieve greater physical and mental wellbeing. One of the key factors in overall health is understanding how to live in alignment with one's hormonal rhythm rather than against it.
The programme equips guests with tools and knowledge to address hormonal imbalances arising from lifestyle factors: Ayurvedic treatments and herbal protocols, nutritional guidance, yoga practices aligned with cycle phases, and mindfulness to support emotional regulation throughout the month.

Ayurvedic doctors assess the individual's constitution and imbalances, then prescribe specific treatments, herbal protocols, and dietary guidance tailored to her stage and symptoms. Yoga nidra, restorative yoga, and meditation practices support the emotional dimension of the journey. The Himalayan setting and the complete removal from daily pressures amplify the healing.

Treatments draw on the full scope of classical Ayurveda: Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Basti, Pinda Sweda, and more. Daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation practices complement the physical treatments. The minimum duration of 14 nights reflects the time Ayurveda genuinely requires to shift deep patterns.

The deepest and most transformative programme at Six Senses Vana. Panchakarma is Ayurveda's classical five-action detoxification and rejuvenation protocol, designed to purify the body at the cellular level. At Vana, it is offered only after careful diagnostic assessment by highly qualified Ayurvedic doctors, and followed in full over a minimum of 21 nights.
The process moves through preparatory phases (Poorvakarma), the main purification procedures (Panchakarma), and a carefully managed recovery phase (Paschatkarma). The experience is profound: guests describe it as a complete reset of the system, with lasting effects on energy, digestion, sleep, and mental clarity.
21 nights minimum. All inclusive: accommodation, full-board, daily treatments, group classes, wellness consultation, and retreat attire. This is the programme for those ready for a genuinely deep transformation.

01
The property
Six Senses Vana is a luxury wellness retreat in the Himalayan foothills near Dehradun, set within 21 acres of sal forest. The approach is holistic and personalized: the programs are built around thorough diagnostics and consultations with Ayurvedic doctors and world-class wellness practitioners.
The focus is integrative medicine, blending Ayurveda, yoga, Traditional Tibetan Medicine, TCM and the latest wellness protocols tailored to your specific needs.

02
Holistic approach
Every guest at Six Senses Vana follows a wellness program. And each program is completely personalised for the needs and objectives of each guest.
Vana draws on four complementary healing traditions:
More on holistic approach
Ayurveda forms the foundation, with resident doctors conducting thorough dosha assessments and prescribing personalised treatments, herbal medicines, and menus aligned with your dosha.
The retreat is also one of the few places in the world offering authentic Traditional Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa), with doctors of the Men-Tsee-Khang institute.
Alongside these, a team of yoga masters guides group classes and private sessions, with work on asana, pranayama, meditation, and yoga nidra.
Natural Healing Therapies complete the offering, encompassing reflexology, physiotherapy, acupuncture and TCM, Raag therapy, and energy work to remove blocks and restore alignment.

03
Amazing food
Food at Six Senses Vana is medicine as well as gastronomy. The recipes were designed by chef Rajesh, a passionate artist, drawing inspiration from the most authentic Indian cuisine as well as cuisines from around the world. Food at Six Senses Vana is as much a pleasure as it is healthy. And it is not spicy at all.
The menus change every day, and the staff knows precisely what ingredients were used, and which dish is appropriate for your body type: Vata, Pitta, or Kapha.
More on amazing food
There is also an in-house apothecary, with decoctions, infusions, herbal mixtures, and topical applications based on Ayurvedic, Sowa Rigpa, and naturopathic principles. They are all made with local ingredients.
There are 2 restaurants at Six Senses Vana:
Salana, the restaurant where you can enjoy buffet and à la carte, eat on your own or with friends. It even offers a community table if you would like to engage conversation and make new friends with other guests of the retreat.
Anayu is a more quiet restaurant, upstairs, which is ideal for the guests who want to eat on their own and/or in silence.

04
The vibes at Vana
Six Senses Vana is a stunning luxury wellness resort. The Spanish architects Esteva i Esteva designed a beautiful and well-thought piece of architecture. There is a great feeling of elegance: muted tones, warm wood, contemporary furnishings, and artwork. And all of that merges nicely with the natural surroundings.
The buildings are immersed in nature, and the whole resort is very advanced in terms of sustainability. There are 66 rooms and 16 suites but the occupancy level is kept really low to ensure the experience remains extremely high-end at all times. Guests come from all over the world.
More on the vibes at vana
The staff at Six Senses Vana is extremely attentive, caring and supportive. From the first day, they know your name, your habits and preferences, and make you feel very special.
Phones are not allowed in public places at Six Senses Vana: it creates a digital detox environment, which is essential to rest the mind during a retreat, and also offers great benefits for the privacy of all the guests. You can use your electronic devices in your room, in the business center, or in the bar of Six Senses Vana.

Do I need to follow a strict program or detox?
Not necessarily. Most of the guests at Six Senses Vana follow a soft approach to wellness. While targeted programs (like detox, sleep, or Ayurveda) exist, the retreat is flexible and intention-led. You can go deep into a transformation journey at your own pace. Or keep things lighter and restorative, enjoy the continental breakfast and the delicious croissants: everything is adapted to your readiness and goals. And you adapt your program with the help of your dedicated Ayurvedic doctor, based on your objectives, your feelings, and the results of your health check-up.
What kind of results or transformation can I expect?
Most guests experience a reset across physical, mental, and emotional health, from improved sleep and energy to better stress management and long-term lifestyle habits. The focus is not quick fixes, but sustainable change rooted in both ancient healing systems and modern science. This is in part thanks to the exceptional vertues of Traditional Tibetan Medicine: it's not well known, but it's very powerful to rest the mind and balance the emotions.
What makes Six Senses Vana different from other luxury wellness retreats?
Six Senses Vana stands out for its deeply immersive approach blending Ayurveda, yoga, Tibetan medicine, and health diagnostics into one cohesive journey. Rather than offering a fixed program, every stay is completely tailored based on your health assessment, goals, and length of stay. Other properties where you can access very deep Ayurveda expertise includes Tulah in Kerala, Ananda in the Himalayas, Santani in Sri Lanka. Six Senses Vana is, however, the only luxury resort offering Traditional Tibetan Medicine. One small detail: there is a digital detox policy at Six Senses Vana. You are encouraged to leave your phone in your room. And it's a well-respected policy.
What is included in a typical stay?
A stay is all-inclusive: accommodation, food (3 meals per day, and a tea-time with snacks), daily treatments, wellness consultations, group classes (yoga, meditation, fitness), and even retreat attire ( white kurta and pyjama). The idea is to remove all friction so guests can fully focus on their wellbeing.
Where is Six Senses Vana and how do I get there?
Vana sits on a hill in Dehradun, in the Himalayan foothills, with forest inside the estate and more forest beside it. Most guests fly to Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport, 45 minutes away, with direct connections from Delhi. By road, the new motorway from Delhi to Dehradun brings the drive to around five hours.
Who is Vana best suited for?
Guests who want a luxury yoga or Ayurveda retreat. This is a real wellness resort, not a Six Senses hotel with a great spa. Days are quiet, introspective and often transformative. Screens are discouraged in shared spaces. Solo travellers do especially well here, and it also works for couples and small groups. If you want beach glamour or evening life, look at Chiva-Som or Kamalaya instead.
How long should I stay?
Five nights is the realistic minimum for the programs to show results. Most guests stay seven to fourteen nights. The Panchakarma program asks for 21 nights or more.
What healing traditions does Vana practise?
Three traditions are combined: Ayurveda, Tibetan Sowa Rigpa, and yoga in its purest, therapeutic form. Your program can follow one or blend them. Few places anywhere offer Sowa Rigpa, traditional Tibetan medicine, and fewer still at this level.
How does Vana compare to Ananda in the Himalayas?
They are close to each other, and both are serious about Ayurveda and yoga. Ananda feels more therapeutic and more spiritual at the same time. Vana feels like a luxury resort that happens to be very good for health and wellbeing. Guests who want structure and efficiency choose Ananda. Those who want a touch more indulgence choose Vana.
