Why trauma recovery needs more than weekly therapy
Trauma lodges in the body as much as the mind. Talk therapy alone often circles the same ground without shifting the underlying nervous-system patterns. At home, the triggers remain present: the same streets, the same routines, the same relationships. Recovery stalls because the environment that holds the trauma is also the environment where healing is attempted.
A residential retreat changes the equation. Complete removal from the triggering environment, daily therapeutic sessions, and a structured container allow the nervous system to settle enough for real processing to begin.
Programs are available in Greece and Switzerland. They range from short somatic retreats to long-term residential psychiatric care for complex trauma, PTSD, and co-occurring conditions.
Types of trauma programs
Four programs on Serenity Ways address trauma at different levels of clinical depth.
- Somatic and emotional processing (Euphoria Retreat, Greece). Emotional Harmony (5 to 7 days, from €2,440) combines sound healing, breathwork, bodywork, and guided emotional work. The approach is somatic rather than psychiatric, helping guests release stored tension and process difficult emotions in a safe group setting.
- Residential psychiatric care for adults (Kusnacht Practice, Switzerland). The Mental Health program (6 to 12 weeks) provides intensive treatment for PTSD, complex trauma, and related conditions. Daily psychotherapy (individual and group), psychiatric medication management, EMDR, and somatic experiencing form the core protocol. The setting is a private lakeside residence with 24-hour clinical support.
- Adolescent trauma and mental health (Kusnacht Practice, Switzerland). The Adolescent Mental Health program (6 to 12 weeks) is designed for young people dealing with trauma, anxiety, or emotional crisis. It includes age-appropriate therapy, educational support, and family involvement alongside clinical treatment.
- Trauma with co-occurring addiction (Kusnacht Practice, Switzerland). The Addiction Treatment program (6 to 12 weeks) addresses substance use disorders that often develop as a coping response to unresolved trauma. Treatment integrates trauma processing with addiction recovery in a single clinical framework.
How to choose the right trauma program
If you want to begin processing difficult experiences in a supportive, non-psychiatric setting, Euphoria's Emotional Harmony is a gentle entry point. Five to seven days of somatic work in a beautiful Greek mountain retreat.
If you are dealing with PTSD, complex trauma, or severe emotional distress, Kusnacht Practice's Mental Health program offers the clinical depth required. Six to twelve weeks of daily therapy in a private residential setting.
If trauma is intertwined with addiction, the Addiction Treatment program at Kusnacht addresses both simultaneously. The clinical team treats the root cause alongside the coping behaviour.
If the person affected is a teenager, the Adolescent Mental Health program at Kusnacht provides specialised care with family involvement built into the process.

What to expect during the stay
At Euphoria Retreat, the pace is intentionally gentle. Morning breathwork, mid-day bodywork or sound healing, and afternoon nature walks fill the days. Group sharing sessions happen in small, facilitated circles. The mountain setting provides natural stillness.
At Kusnacht Practice, the structure is more intensive. Daily individual psychotherapy, twice-weekly group sessions, and regular psychiatric reviews form the backbone. Between sessions, guests have private time in their residence. The lakeside location near Zurich provides calm without isolation from the world.
Both settings prioritise safety and confidentiality. At Kusnacht, staff are available around the clock.
What does a trauma retreat cost?
Euphoria's Emotional Harmony starts at €2,440 for 5 days and €3,549 for 7 days. It is the most accessible option for guests beginning trauma work.
Kusnacht Practice's residential programs (6 to 12 weeks) are priced individually based on the treatment plan. The cost reflects private accommodation, daily therapy, psychiatric care, and full medical support. Pricing is available on request.
