Why cognitive health is now a wellness priority
Cognitive decline used to be something you worried about after sixty. That has changed. Neuroimaging studies now show measurable brain aging starting in the late thirties. Poor sleep, chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and unmanaged stress all accelerate it. The good news is that most of the drivers are modifiable, and the window for protection is much wider than anyone thought ten years ago.
A cognitive health retreat is one of the few places you can actually get a full picture of your brain. Full-body MRI, neurovascular review, genomic testing, cognitive screening, sleep monitoring, and metabolic workup all happen in the same week. Most guests arrive with vague worry about focus or family history of dementia. They leave with a clear baseline, a list of modifiable risks, and a protocol to act on them.
The four clinics we rank at the top of this category have built dedicated brain programs with proper neurology oversight. Everything else in our portfolio is longevity or performance medicine with a strong cognitive component.
Types of cognitive health programs
Our 14 programs in this category split into three distinct levels of depth. Pick the one that matches what you want to learn and how much time you have.
- Dedicated brain health programs (Lanserhof Tegernsee, Clinique La Prairie Montreux, Kusnacht Practice, Clinique Nescens). These are the most serious options. Lanserhof Tegernsee runs a 7-night Brain Health add-on to the Classic program from €3,674, focused on early detection and risk reduction of dementia, Alzheimer's, MS, and Parkinson's. Clinique La Prairie Montreux runs Brain Potential, a 7-day program developed with the CHUV Neuroimaging Lab of Lausanne, starting at CHF 28,400. Kusnacht Practice in Zurich runs the BIO-R® Cognitive Blueprint, the most personalised cognitive assessment we know of. Clinique Nescens runs Mental & Cognitive Health, pairing neurofeedback and EEG with targeted therapies for focus and emotional resilience.
- Cognitive-plus-longevity programs (Chi Longevity, SHA Mexico, Kusnacht Practice Signature). These programs treat cognitive health as part of a broader longevity protocol. Chi Longevity in Singapore offers a 1-day Cognitive Health assessment from SGD 6,000 that includes brain MRI with neurovascular review, ideal for guests who want a deep workup without a full retreat. SHA Mexico runs a 7-night Advanced Longevity program from $8,250 combining regenerative medicine with cognitive diagnostics. Kusnacht Practice BIO-R® Signature Blueprint is their deepest longevity program and includes AI-assisted volumetric brain analysis.
- Performance and stress-resilience programs with cognitive benefits (SHA Spain, Lanserhof Sylt, Lanserhof Lans, The Capra, Kusnacht Health Assessment). These programs are not labelled as cognitive but have strong carry-over for focus, memory, and mental clarity. SHA Spain Leader's Performance starts at €3,500 for 4 nights and targets high-performers. Lanserhof Sylt Stress Resilience runs 7 nights from €7,564 and focuses on autonomic regulation. Lanserhof Lans Mental Health starts at €3,805 for 7 nights in a discreet clinical setting.
How to choose the right cognitive program
If you have a family history of dementia or Alzheimer's and want the strongest risk-reduction protocol, book Lanserhof Tegernsee Brain Health. The combination of neurological diagnostics and the full Lanserhof Concept is the best value in the category.
If you want the absolute deepest assessment and budget is not a constraint, Clinique La Prairie Brain Potential is the most advanced program we have. The partnership with the CHUV Neuroimaging Lab gives you research-grade diagnostics and a full week of targeted therapies.
If you prefer a psychiatric and neuro-cognitive frame with full medical and therapeutic support, Kusnacht Practice BIO-R® Cognitive Blueprint is the right pick. The team at Kusnacht handles complex cases including early cognitive decline, ADHD, and high-stress executive burnout alongside cognitive assessment.
If you only have a day, fly to Singapore. Chi Longevity Cognitive Health is the fastest way to get a brain MRI, neurovascular review, and a full metabolic risk profile under one roof. It suits guests on Asia business travel who want real data without a week off work.
If your cognitive issues are stress-driven rather than neurological, start with Lanserhof Sylt Stress Resilience or Lanserhof Lans Mental Health. These address the autonomic and emotional drivers behind most focus and memory complaints in your thirties and forties.
What to expect during the stay
Day one is full assessment. Blood work, genetic testing if included, body composition, sleep study, and a neurology consultation. At Clinique La Prairie and Clinique Nescens you also get neurofeedback EEG and brain imaging. Lanserhof Tegernsee adds cognitive screening and, where relevant, MRI. The day ends with a tailored plan.
Days two and three are the preparation phase. Diet shifts to anti-inflammatory and brain-supportive protocols rich in omega-3s, polyphenols, and clean protein. Sleep is structured. Morning and evening movement is programmed. Early therapies begin, including IV nutrient support, hyperbaric oxygen, and red-light stimulation where the clinic offers it.
From day four the cognitive training layers in. Neurofeedback sessions at Clinique Nescens and Kusnacht Practice. Brain-targeted physiotherapy and dual-task training. Breathwork and stress-regulation practices. Daily neurology or physician check-ins adjust the protocol.
By day seven most guests report sharper focus, better recall, and steadier energy. More importantly, you leave with a clear picture of your brain baseline and a 12-week home protocol covering food, sleep, movement, supplements, and cognitive training. Follow-up assessment at six or twelve months is usually recommended to track progress.
What does a cognitive health program cost?
Entry-level cognitive assessments start around SGD 6,000 at Chi Longevity in Singapore. This is a single-day program and the most accessible way to get a proper brain workup.
The mid-range runs €3,500 to €8,000 for a week. SHA Spain Leader's Performance starts at €3,500. Lanserhof Tegernsee Brain Health is €3,674 and Lanserhof Lans Mental Health is €3,805. SHA Mexico Advanced Longevity runs $8,250. This is where most guests land for their first serious cognitive stay.
Premium brain programs run CHF 20,000 and up per week. Clinique La Prairie Brain Potential at CHF 28,400 and the Kusnacht Practice BIO-R® Blueprints sit at this level. You pay for the depth of neuroimaging, the neurology team, and the level of personalisation that only a dedicated brain clinic can provide.
Most prices include accommodation, meals, diagnostics, consultations, and core therapies. Advanced imaging, genomic testing, and follow-up assessments are sometimes extra. Contact the Serenity Ways team for a shortlist matched to your cognitive concerns, medical history, and budget.
